Cultivating energy

We become what we repeatedly do.

Cultivating energy is very different to stimulating energy.

Stimulating energy is a quick pick me up followed by a down later on.

For example: things like caffeine, sugar, intense exercise/asana practice or even too much screen time all stimulate us for a quick high of energy during and after but then leave us feeling tired and mentally depleted after.

Cultivating energy is the process of taking part in practices that help generate the flow of energy around the body ongoing and creating a mind that is clear, focused and one pointed.

For example: eating foods that nourish the body and mind (more plant based), bringing awareness to our mind and body when taking part in movement and practicing a meditation regularly to create a clear mind free from needing distraction or effected constantly emotion.

Food for many has also become a point of distraction and comfort and living in a world where you are constantly being over stimulated and feeling these highs and lows in energy so often we reach for caffeine, sugar and other foods to give us this up again only to fall back down where we started.

The key is cultivating energy and being aware of what we do and how we nourish the mind and body.

It is only when we are able to turn away from being reactive and instead turn to cultivating total awareness of body and mind that we are able to sit in a state of harmony.
This harmony creates an energy that is long lasting, pure and the mind is able to become clear and focused.

Exercise should be a beautiful expression of what is possible using the human body, Not a punishment for what you just ate or what you believe to be lacking.

Focus on how you want to feel not the way you want to look and the rest will take care of itself.
Always ask yourself; is what I’m about to do, eat or drink right now going to nourish me or punish me?

If you listen to your body it will tell you what it needs to nourish it. 🧘‍♀️🥗🙏🏻🏋️‍♂️🙌🏻
